Using a Meditation CD

If you are interested in meditation and how it benefits your body and mind, you will also be interested in using a meditation CD and how it can help make your time meditating better. Many people use CDs while meditating, from beginners to masters, but the purposes for using them varies depending on the user. There are many different styles of CD that you can purchase and use depending on your need.

The most common type of meditation CD is used by beginners, and it has a group leader verbally leading them through the steps of meditation. This is helpful because the beginner in meditation may not know exactly what step is next, or how long they should spend on the current step before progressing. This type of CD takes all of the guess work out of meditation.

The next two types of meditation CD are similar, as they provide a soundtrack for your meditation, but they can vary widely also. The first is a natural soundtrack, which could include a gentle rainfall, or whale songs. The most popular natural soundtrack used for meditation is the sound of the ocean waves pounding the beach over and over. Another popular one is the sounds of the forest. The day time sounds will include various birds singing their songs to each other, while a night soundtrack would have crickets, frogs and even an occasional owl hooting in the background.

The other type of meditation CD includes actual music, but it should be chosen very carefully to avoid any distractions while you are a meditating. Any music with strong beats will keep your attention on the rhythm instead of making it easier to meditate. Similarly, any music that is sung in your language will distract you and keep your mind on the lyrics that are being sung. If you must use music with vocals, try something that is sung in a language you don’t understand, and the vocals will be more likely to blend in and sound like an instrument. The most popular music CD used in meditation is a soundtrack of light jazz, often with a saxophone carrying the melody.
